All of our products created at own are thoroughly safety tested to ensure they are safe for use. We are proud members of the BCF (British candlemakers federation) which ensures we are kept up to date with any legal changes or amendments too.

For every batch that is made we run extensive burn tests and only use candle approved vessels which have been certified by our suppliers to ensure they are fit for purpose. All vessels we offer throughout our packages are safety approved and each blend goes through thorough safety tests before being put on sale. This ensures that we create blends that not only burn beautifully but provide a strong, lasting scent throw too.

We also have access to contract candle safety testing through one of our trusted providers. This is in place for customers who would like to use a vessel which is not traditionally for use as a candle. This is by quote only so if you are after this service please get in touch with us and we will be happy to help.

candle care info

  • On the first burn of your candle allow the wax to pool fully to the edge of the vessel before extinguishing. Candles have memory rings meaning that however far you burn your candle on the first burn it will never burn past that point. So, if you burn only halfway to the edge of the vessel this will result in your candle tunnelling and losing a lot of wax in the process.

  • Before each burn we recommend trimming your wicks and removing any debris from the wax pool, Trim your wick to 3mm before each burn. This ensures the wax will melt evenly, reduce the risk of a fire, the jar overheating and also improves scent throw.

Signs your candle wick needs to be trimmed.

    • Your candle is sooting or smoking when burning.

    • Your wicks are curling over on themselves

    • The candle flame is high and/or flickering excessively

    • The jar feels too hot to touch

If you practice correct candle care and trim the wick before each burn to 3mm you should not see any of these issues occur but if you do simply extinguish the candle, allow to cool and then trim down your wick and remove any debris from the wax pool before relighting.

    • Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Doing so will result in the jar overheating and a possible fire occurring.

    • Burn your candle on a stable and heat resistant surface, away from drafts, vibrations or movement.

    • Keep away from children and pets

    • Do not leave a burning candle unattended at any point.

    • Do not use as a nightlight or leave burning when tired.
